Springmead Girls Attend Biathlon Final
Two pupils from Springmead School impressed judges as they took part in the Great British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships in Bath recently.
During the Easter holidays, Year 3 girls Charlotte and Elizabeth competed in the Schools Modern Biathlon Championships held at Bath University. There were some incredible athletes at the event and our girls did extremely well as they competed against some 1400 entrants. Both girls went faster in their swims and runs to get higher point scores than at the regional event. 34th overall with a point score of 1904 (an improvement of 144 points) and Lizzie came 45th with a point score of 1658 (an improvement of 84 points). This was an incredible achievement as the girls were racing the top competitors from all across Great Britain. Giving children an opportunity to compete and participate in national events instils a sense of pride and accomplishment, fostering confidence, promoting sportsmanship and mutual respect and encouraging teamwork and camaraderie with teammates and competitors alike. Both girls continue to enjoy their sports during P.E. lessons and swimming lessons and are aiming to take part again next year.
Congratulations!
